EACH class offers a chance to learn and discover for you and your child but also includes numerous strategy tips, ideas and specific demonstrations of how to teach certain signs- especially abstract ones which are more challenging to teach without proper guidance. We will learn what types and how many signs to introduce to your child as well as learning about how to obtain the ultimate goal which is verbal language development. You will learn keys to success, how to recognize your child’s first signs, attention getting strategies, troubleshooting and signs for abstract signs. Using the skills learned in class, continuing the learning process at home will be an easy one.
In EVERY class you will also learn wonderful information about your child’s unique development and why certain activities are used in the class to help encourage this development including nurturing their imagination, playfulness, problem solving, social skills and musicality.
Why is music and movement such a big part of a Tiny Talker’s sign language class? In addition to being a sign language specialist, I am also a music educator and a mother of two children and I know that children are innately drawn to music and also learn best through movement. Music stimulates and awakens different parts of the brain, immersing the child in language and helps develop memory while movement helps to develop their coordination.
